The PASTINNOVA Summer school on INNOVATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE MEDITERRANEAN PASTORAL SYSTEMS was held in Zaragoza and the Pyrenees (Spain, 30 May, 7 June 2024. The course was addressed to young professionals from Mediterranean countries. The programme of the course was organised around 6 main themes or modules:
1. Introduction: Relevance of pastoral systems in the Mediterranean region
2. Technical Management challenges: traditions and innovations
3. Understanding the economic sustainability of pastoral systems
4. Environmental implications of pastoral systems
5. Social and governance aspects in pastoralism
6. Public action and policies to promote the role of sustainable livestock production and pastoralism in the Mediterranean
